Head Coach - Wes Davis |

Wes Davis just completed his fourth year as an Assistant Coach at UT Tyler, a team that won the ASC East Championship and compiled a 37-1 overall record on the season - the best among all NCAA teams in the nation. Coach Davis is responsible for the Patriots strength and conditioning, defense, baserunning, and assisting with hitters. Under Davis, the Patriots have led the ASC in best fielding percentage in 2006 and 2007, and also led the ASC in hitting all three years (2005-2007). Davis spent this past summer as the Hitting Coach of the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plain League, and led them to the playoffs. During the summer of 2005, Davis worked as the Hitting Coach for the Kenai Peninsula Oilers of the Alaskan Baseball League. From that Oilers team, 12 players are currently playing professionally.
Davis graduated from national high school baseball powerhouse Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma. During his time at Owasso, the Rams played in four 6A state championships, winning two. Davis then played shortstop for two years at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas The Saints won back to back conference championships, including a conference tournament championship and a regional runner up in 2002. Davis then finished his playing career at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Playing middle infield, he helped lead his team to a NAIA regional appearance in 2004.
In addition to coaching baseball, Davis also is an assistant coach for the UT Tyler Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams. The men’s team has won back-to-back ASC Championships in 2005 and 2006. Davis also holds a position in the Herrington Patriot Center as a Recreation Program Assistant working in Fitness, Intramurals, and Rec Sports.
Davis holds a B.A. in Psychology and is currently completing his M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Psychology and Kinesiology.
Wes is the son of James and Pat Davis of Owasso, Oklahoma. His brother Stockton recently retired from pitching 4 seasons in the Washington Nationals organization. Wes, 25, now resides in Tyler with his wife Kara and their dog Mickey.

Assistant Coach - J.T. Severe |

.T. Severe joined the staff in 2006 as the pitching coach at Northern Oklahoma College Enid. Severe began his collegiate career at NOC Enid, where he played two seasons (2000-2002) and was named to the NJCAA All-American Team in his second season. Severe was a member of the 2002 NOC Enid team that finished 3rd at the NJCAA World Series. In the opening game of the World Series, he threw a complete game 3-2 victory over Pearl River CC. Severe holds the record for the most wins in a career with 19, and he also won the first game for the NOC Enid program in 2001. After playing at NOC Enid, he went on to pitch at New Mexico State University for two seasons (2002-2004).
Severe began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Stillwater High School in 2004. In the summer of 2004, Severe helped guide the SHS summer team to a Pure Prairie League State Championship. Severe served as the pitching coach for SHS in the spring of 2005 and 2006. The 2005 pitching staff produced impressive numbers with an ERA of 2.80 and 10 shutouts in 39 games. Severe was the head coach of the SHS summer team in 2005 and 2006. In the two summer seasons, Severe compiled a record of 48-19. In two seasons as the pitching coach at SHS, one player was drafted as the 55th overall pick in the MLB draft, two players went on to pitch at the NCAA Division I level, and four players went on to pitch at the NJCAA level.
Severe graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 2006. He is currently working on his master’s degree in Adult Education Management and Administration at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. In 2006, Severe married his wife, Alicia.
